FREQUENTLY ASKED CANOE & KAYAK RENTAL QUESTIONS

Q: Where can we launch from?

A:  We are a on the water canoe and kayak livery.  We have a dock right across the street from our location for our customers use.

Q:  How do we get the boats to the water?

A:  You can either carry them (our heaviest boat only weights 62 lbs.) or we can put them on a canoe or kayak cart and you can wheel them over to our dock with only two fingers.

Q:  What do we need to bring with us?

A:  Our recommendations are a hat to keep the sun off your head and to break the glare and most importantly water.  We recommend approximately 1qt. per hour that you plan on being out.

Q:  Where can I paddle?

A:  Here in WNY we are blessed with a large amount of waterways to paddle and explore. For a day’s adventure we have a recommended route/loop trip of 5 miles up and around the large island on Ellicott Creek which will bring you right back to our dock. Not enough distance for you! You can paddle from our dock all the way to Florida without ever getting out of your boat, and never going out to the ocean and staying inland the whole way.

Q:  What kind of wildlife can I expect to see while I’m out exploring Ellicott Creek?

A:  That is sort of an opened ended question. Depending on how quite you are on the water and the time of day the more wildlife you will see. In the line of animals that we often see: Deer, Beaver, Woodchucks. Birds and waterfowl are: Ducks both Mallard and Black, Canada Geese, Herons Blue, Gray, Green and Night Herons, Bitterns, Egrets and Kingfishers. Turtles both painted and snapping. You can bring your fishing rod because there are: Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Carp, Bullheads and all kinds of pan fish. Cameras allow you to capture the flora and fauna and family and friends having fun.
